Competitive Supply on Medium to Large Batch Anodising
ANODISING
Anodising is an electrolytic process used for producing thick oxide coatings, normally producing oxide layers from 5 to 25µm in thickness. Anodising is used to give improved surface resistance to wear and corrosion, or as a decorative layer.
Snelsons has been anodising since 1963, therefore our knowledge allows us to offer our customers the best finishes. Our in-house anodising plant allows us to process medium to large volumes of aluminium components in a variety of finishes, including Bright, Etch and Matt. We can apply coatings between 5µm and 25µm and colouring with gold, red, black and bronze organic dyes or tin based electrolytic coating which can give a range of colours from bronze to black. We are unique, most anodisers have a set time for every profile and won't deviate from this - however we feel it is important that our customers get the finishing requirement they've asked for so our experts tailor our process to your items to make sure we are supplying the best quality.
All our jigs are designed and manufactured in-house to ensure maximum load efficiencies, allowing us to offer competitive volume anodising whilst maintaining a gold standard finish.

ANODISING TYPES
Bright Anodising
Snelsons is one of a select few UK companies who can offer Bright Anodising up to 3.4 metres in length. Chemically Brightening enhances the reflectivity of Aluminium to give a mirror like finish second to none. Available in Silver, Black, Bronze, Gold and Red.
Applications include shower enclosures, lighting, catering equipment, worktop trims, wallboard trims, automotive trims, high end retail sections and many more.
Semi-Bright
Semi-Bright Anodising combines both the etching and brightening finishing processes to give a unique finish which highlights the benefits of both processes. Producing a more matt effect, this finish is also available in Silver, Black, Bronze, Gold and Red.
Applications include shower enclosures, lighting enclosures, trims, handles, audio enclosures, retail enclosures and more.
Etch (Matt)
Chemical Etching is one of the most commonly applied finishes when Anodising Aluminium. Giving a matt appearance, etching provides great surface coverage and a fantastic finish. Available in Silver, Black, Bronze, Gold and Red.

THICKNESS GUIDE
The thickness of the aluminium oxide coating can be varied by the processing time; however the figures below give good guidelines:
If you are unsure on coating thickness levels, finishes or colours, we would be delighted to hear from you so we can assist based on our expertise and experience.
BENEFITS
The thickness of the aluminium oxide coating can be varied by the processing time; however the figures below give good guidelines:
- 5 Micron - Suitable for decorative applications
- 10 Micron - Suitable for internal applications and outdoor applications where cleaning is very frequent (e.g. caravan trims)
- 15 Micron - Suitable for architectural requirements
- 25 Micron - Suitable for heavy duty external permanent architectural applications where little deterioration can be tolerated

BENEFITS
- Durability: Anodised products have an extremely long life span and offer significant economic advantages through maintenance and operating savings
- Colour Stability: Exterior anodic coatings provide good stability to ultraviolet rays, do not chip or peel and are easily repeatable
- Ease of Maintenance: Once installed, simply wash with detergent and water (Scars and wear from fabrication, handling, installation, frequent surface dirt cleaning and usage are virtually non-existent)
- Aesthetics: Anodising offers a large increasing number of gloss and colour alternatives and eliminates colour variations. Unlike other finishes, anodising allows the aluminium to maintain its metallic appearance
- Cost: A lower initial finishing cost combines with lower maintenance costs for greater long-term value
- Health and Safety: Anodising is a safe process that is not harmful to human health. Since the anodising process is a reinforcement of a naturally occurring oxide process, it is non-hazardous and produces no harmful or dangerous by products.
