The extrusion of aluminium is a manufacturing process used to create long objects of a fixed cross-sectional profile. A material, often in the form of an aluminium billet, is pushed and/or drawn through a die of the desired profile shape. Hollow sections are usually extruded by placing a piercing mandrel inside of the die.
Once extruded, the profiles are cut and then aged in ageing oven to the required temper, before being packed to specification.

RAPID PROTOTYPING
Snelsons has the on-site capability of producing 3D printed prototypes of extrusions for our customers. With five commercial 3d printers, and bed sizes of 230mm x 230mm and the ability to print prototypes up to 500mm in height, our service helps to bring our customers products to life by allowing them to test and visualise their products prior to any tooling commitments. From CAD we can produce fully functional samples as shown in the pictures here.
We are also able to use local partners and produce a wire eroded sample out of Aluminium which will give you a real-life sample before committing to dies and material. |
